"Gravity, True For You But Not For Me" by Author Michael Edwards is quite a powerful mini-book that packs the punch, "Big surprises come in little packages," which is an understatement. Perfect for evangelism and originally an e-book, this book addresses every possible question or doubt about Christianity by combining facts, evidence and the truth with biblical principles. This book has the reader examine what is truth, does God exist, can we trust the Bible, did the resurrection really happen, and who did Jesus claim to be. Then by giving a twelve-point conclusion the author ends the journey with a pathway to salvation. Keep several copies of this one in your car, you'll want to hand them out to everyone you meet!

The author states in his opening paragraph of the book, "It's not about religion, it's about truth." The author goes on to explain his purpose for writing the book being that the, "…objective evidence must be considered in order to make an informed decision." Otherwise believing something because your parents believe it, relying on emotions or believing something to be true because you believe it to be true does not make it true; this is called "blind faith," as the author emphatically states. The facts must be examined and as the author continues to write, "Every person deserves at least the chance to examine the facts and make an informed decision."

Compelling, powerful and filled with common sense this book is packed with undeniable factual and scientific basis that clearly state the case for Christianity and why, if you believe or not, the Bible is true for you. Author, Theresa Franklin does a wonderful job in administering to the heart of families and encouraging families to stick together in love through this fictional short story. We all know what our lives look from the outside. But when we examine our family life from the inside, more than we like to admit, one will find dysfunction in the home. When we come to a place of acknowledging our sins and confessing them to God, God can work on our behalf. The author asks these important questions and urges us all to spend, "…time in front of God's mirror and try to see what those who know you best actually see? Are you a Christian? Have you accepted Christ as your savior?" In that, the author is asking, are you walking the walk and talking the talk? So many people profess to be Christians, but as Christians we should be exhibiting love, respect and service to our families in the home as well. If not, this book will lead the way to a new path of wholeness in Christ for families.

Driven by emotions, control, negativity, judgment and perfectionism, Cynthia is in complete denial of her behavior towards her family members. Severely affected, the husband is miserable, and her children avoid her as much as possible. Inevitably when there is dysfunction in the home, the author states, the stress can be measured in emotional and physical illnesses. Although the book is a fictional story, the author has described a very real and believable picture of how life is in our own families sometimes. The Owens family is torn from the inside out, due to stresses from the contention and discord caused by one family member suffering from deep emotional wounds caused from her own dysfunctional childhood.

This book is truly a blessing to families and the body of Christ. The author, through the use of scriptures and examples of family life, paints a wonderful picture of how life can be through the love and redemption of Jesus Christ. The author promotes family in this story of healing and encourages others, that "…love covereth a multitude of sins." Families will find solace and comfort through this book. Theresa's Franklin's writing style flows smoothly making for an easy read, keeping the reader fully engaged. This book will minister to all families that are "less than perfect." A highly recommend, encouraging read that will impact others for Christ. God can work in any situation, as the author illustrates, even the impossible ones.

Calvary Chapel congregation stunned as Chuck Smith announces that he has lung cancer

COSTA MESA, CA (ANS) -- The congregation at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, California, were stunned today (Sunday, January 01, 2012) when Pastor Chuck Smith, it senior pastor, announced during his Sunday morning services that he has lung cancer and will have a biopsy on Tuesday and surgery the following week.

Chuck Smith started preaching in the 1960s Chuck Smith, now in his eighties and the father of the Jesus People Revolution in Southern California, said that he has never smoked in his life.
At at the end of the third service that was broadcast on KWVE 107.9 FM, his son-in-law, Brian Brodersen, joined with other pastors at the huge church and anointed him with oil and prayed for his healing.

Karl Corcoran, evangelism pastor at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, posted on Facebook, "Update: Pastor Chuck Smith having surgery this month for lung cancer after a series of tests this week. Estimated recovery time is 3 weeks."

In response to the posting, Kathy Buckley Keys said, "We were stunned with the news of Pastor Chuck. His ways are higher than ours and He is able to keep that which is committed to Him so we commit Pastor Chuck and all that is related to him, family, doctors and treatments to the Great Physician who knows Pastor Chuck intimately and ask for His guidance, favor, love and support through this time."

Shortly after the announcement, the KWVE Facebook page was flooded with goodwill messages for Chuck Smith.

Joni Barger wrote, "I'm praying for a miracle. I'm an avid listener to the radio program. Pastor Chuck I've learned so much from you. God is with you Sir."

Kim Krabbenhoft-Ancora posted, "Oh I am so sad...tears...we will be lift him up in prayer...but as said above, Pastor Chuck of all people will use this to bring Glory to The Lord!!!"

Adrianna Kneefel added, "We love you Pastor Chuck...the Lord uses your life daily to feed thousands of His sheep. Praying that much fruit would come out of this and that the the sickness would be removed in Jesus name... we speak words of life! Lord let your servant live and continue to bring the Word. Chuck is a bright light in a dark age... Lord let his light shine!"

Rachel Fret said, "I was floored when I heard the news this morning. Praying for Papa Chuck and his family. .. my husband had an aunt who died of lung cancer a few years ago. She never smoked in her whole life. Doctors assumed that it was due to where she was living...Redlands, Ca...air pollution. Don't know but yeah, we found out then that it's not a cancer caused by smoking."

And Cassandra Voight Estes posted, "Praying... Please Lord keep Chuck with us so that others might hear your precious word. You have blessed Chuck all these years. I know he will not waste his cancer and you will use it for you glory."

In a previous tribute to Chuck Smith, ANS correspondent, Brian Nixon, who for several years co-hosted Pastors Perspective with Chuck Smith, wrote: "Pastor Chuck Smith, founder of the Calvary Chapel Movement and one of the key figureheads of the Jesus Movement, has touched the hearts and lives of countless of people in his six decades of ministry.

"Not to mention his influence upon the fabric of Christian culture: from the 2,000 plus Calvary Chapel churches spanning the globe to the praise-and-worship phenomena initiated in the 1960's. His impact looms large in the halls of modern Christian history.

"Sadly, however, Pastor Chuck had a brief setback, suffering a couple of what were described as 'mini-strokes' at his home on December 27, 2009.

"I was blessed to have worked side-by-side with Pastor Chuck for almost eight years, covering numerous fields: education, publishing, radio, and television.

"Not only was I able to glean from his words, thoughts, answers, and actions, on a weekly basis, but I was also able to watch him in a variety of situations: answering questions on a radio program we hosted together, cooperating with him on books, brainstorming and praying with him through tough educational situations. And, most special of all, to watch his interaction with other human beings.

"Let me say that ... Pastor Chuck is a true gentleman. He is a man who understands God's grace and the need for people to experience that grace in the love of Christ."

From Sinking Sand is an extraordinary book by Author Marsha Lenski testifying to her moral failure in the form of an adulterous affair. Marsha has been featured on "Life Today" with James and Betty Robison and CBN's 700 Club with her amazing testimony. Her story is a familiar one; at the time, she had no idea the ripple effect her adulterous affair would have in her life, nor that her moral failure would ever be discovered. What makes this book so extraordinary is that the author is brazenly honest and surprisingly transparent as she takes the reader back to her time of playing with the fire of adultery. The consequences are so monumental, that no one in their right mind "armed" with the truth of God's Word would commit adultery, but sadly, the author concedes from a recent survey, "…that over 88 percent of Americans believe adultery is wrong. Yet 77 percent of marriages involve at least one adultery." This alarming fact in our society today is bringing many to the wide-path of destruction. Quite simply put, it is choosing death over life.

Edward Mrkvicka's true desire is two-fold, first for all those that may be contemplating adultery to know the absolute truth of God's Word and the dire consequences and for those that are in an adulterous affair or have been in the past that they would also realize the devastating consequences and that the truth would bring true repentance in their life. Lastly, Mrkvicka's desire is that all would receive eternal life in Jesus Christ. Again, the author does not give his opinion, but God's view and His Holy Word. This book offers no excuses, nor apologies, but gives the truth of the Word of God. This book is truly a blessing to the body of Christ and to all who read it.

This subject is not an easy subject to be discussed, nor is it very popular, but with so many on the path to destruction in our society it is a must read for anyone entangled in or contemplating adultery. This fascinating and well-written book exposes the truth and deception in the sin of adultery and brings forth light to the subject. Thankfully, the author ends that there is hope and states, "God can save us" (p.11). For there is one hope, and that one hope is the forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ. Come, read, know the truth and be set free.

Is faith just a word? Surprisingly, the word is a transitive verb which means "action" towards a particular object and since Christ is the author and finisher of our faith, then our faith is an active and ongoing process.

Encyclopedia Britannica defines faith as follows: "Greek Pistis, Latin Fides, inner attitude, conviction, or trust relating man to a supreme God or ultimate salvation. In religious traditions stressing divine grace it is the inner certainty or attitude of love granted by God himself. In Christian theology, faith is the divinely inspired human response to God's historical revelation through Jesus Christ and, consequently, is of crucial significance".

However, I like to think of Hebrews chapter 11 as the "faith hall of fame", and the author opens by summarizing faith in just one sentence: "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen" (vs. 1). And in my own words, I offer the following explanations of the substance of faith.

Faith is like a deep well that is filled with living water; if that water is not used, does it not then become stale? So too is faith, as faith not used will also become stale. And although the earth is filled with darkness even at high noon, yet the blind man sees.

Faith is like a moonless night that brings forth darkness as a promise of the light to come. Like a ship sailing under a starless night, so too are those who walk without faith; and even if you are at the helm of your ship, can you calm a storm or the storm tossed waters? Nay, for the conflict is not between men, the conflict is between man and God over the rule of his destiny and his destiny lies in the hands of God.

Faith does not know that there will be a tomorrow, but hopes that there is. There is no life in yesterday. Yesterday is but a memory in time. There is no life in tomorrow, for tomorrow is only a hope, and without faith, there is no hope, for even dogs have faith in their masters.

Faith has a beginning and an end and we are all somewhere in the middle. Faith is the evidence of things not seen, but the hope for them. Therefore, hope for that which is not seen, and know that which is hoped for will come about, for God is the author and the finisher of our faith.

I just read a very interesting article about teens that said more teens turn to Facebook, Twitter, and Social Blogs like Blog Catalog that they turn to churches and church support groups. The article went on to ask, are social networks a better spiritual partner that churches? Interesting question, however the answer is no.

Of course there are some great Christian networks online and a lot of Christian's that blog and contribute on Facebook, Twitter and other social blogs, however in my personal opinion online social networks will never provide the true relationships that a pastor, eldership or church congregation offers regarding spiritual matters and spiritual partners. It's just not possible and the two are like night and day.

However, I do see this as a door that has opened to share God, God's love, salvation and the Kingdom of God provided that it's done in a loving, non forceful way. That is to say, it's one thing to share faith online, but it's another thing to force feed people and create debates. Maybe that's why I love blogging so much. We just share and it's a choice, no one has to read what we share. However, and thank God, that millions do. Life comes with bumps and bruises. Sometimes they can be down right nasty. Responsibilities can overwhelm us. House payments, car payments, auto insurance, utility bills, medical bills, grocery bills, auto repairs, school needs. Geeze! Life is all about having enough money to keep things together and going. Everything but the air we breath has a price tag on it. No wonder our world is so fragile. No wonder so many people are struggling. No wonder families fall apart and no wonder we are a people of stress.

Like the slaves of long ago making bricks out of mud and straw while being whipped by slave drivers, our world has become driven by money and the men that rule it. Considering that my parents paid a monthly mortgage payment of $127.00 a month and today's average mortgage payment is over $2,500.00. It seems like someones blowing the balloon up to get all they can out of it.

There will never be true happiness found in a society where it's people has to spend so much money every month just to live and make ends meet. Somehow, we as Americans have either lost sight of what's truly important or been led down a path of slavery. Life should be about freedom and happiness, not slavery.

Most children at that young age react with fear, deep concern and are deeply affected. Of course if that same child is permitted to view images of violence, after a while, they become numb to it. It merely becomes entertainment.

I've always been amazed at life in the sense of when a life enters this world. That tiny little infant basically has no knowledge of anything. He or she is just here. They depend upon their parents to feed them and care for them. They are born, open their eye's and see for the very 1st time.

The Truth That Sets Us Free

It seems these days that if one joins a local fellowship they soon are placed into positions of service from being involved in the prayer ministry, to the prophetic ministry and in many other positions. Of course there is training, however the training is pretty class 101 and basic. I've become concerned about this because it seems that church membership seems to be the driving force behind this process. The concerning part is that people are placed into positions and ministry prior to spending time in the Word of God. Therefore, how can they minister the kingdom of God, the Word of Truth or counsel people according to the word of God? Further, what of Satan and the demonic forces that wage war against the saints, being the church? How can a church member put on the very armor of God if they haven't studied the scriptures?, therefore becoming prey to the attacks of the enemy.

Just recently a well respected member of the church that I attend shared with us that God takes her throughout the universe, that she's seen Pluto, Venus, mars and the milky way. OK. Another woman shared with us that God takes care of her sexual needs to include orgasms. Interesting. I could go on with stories and encounters with God that are not only unscriptural, but also just flat out off the wall. Would you want someone with these belief systems praying over you, prophesying over you or counseling you? I sure don't.

My point being that it seems that personal experiences, personal beliefs, personal applications and the entertainment of such are taking precedents over the word of God at times. Within such, I feel that the very true and sure foundation, even the teachings of the apostles are placed on the back burner thereby weakening the church and God's Will for the church. You see, God's Word and only God's Word is a lamp unto our feet. The word of God is the sure foundation of the church and when the word of God is compromised, the foundation of the church shifts from the sure foundation to sand. One might say that the word of God continues forth, that even today God's Words are being spoken through the Holy Spirit, prophets and the prophetic ministry. Ok, so then why has the church become so powerless if these new words and prophetic words are truly from God. Why do many times these very prophetic words only serve the purpose of entertaining people and rarely come to pass or proove to be fruitful.

I'm just a tad curious here?

Jesus said "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. In the Psalms is says "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Another scripture that comes to mind is "And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables". And "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.

Jesus also said "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Let me encourage you to spend quality time reading and studying the Word of God. For by and through such you will be empowered to discern truth from fiction. The Truth will set you free.

Of course it also depends on your lifestyle and how busy your days are. Some people plan and schedule so many things that they barely have time to eat. It's easy to get so busy with life's demands that there's no time for God.

Let me encourage you to start your day with Jesus. Just by simply awakening and saying "Good Morning Lord". You see Jesus can calm the storms of life, for Christ is the Prince of Peace and the peace of God surpasses all understanding, it quiets the storms and that peace also helps us put things into perspective. Now around the world there is a seed being sown that America is not a Christian nation. That seed is anti christ, denying the very truth and God that this nation owes it's thanks to. That seed has an agenda and is watered by that which is self seeking.
